Our Vision For Art Exhibits

At the Children’s Museum of Sound & Color, art won’t just be something to look at — it will be something that immerses and engages visitors as they touch, build, and play. Each exhibit will invite children and caregivers to learn side by side, creating opportunities for collaboration, conversation, and discovery. Families might work together to build a textured collage, listen to a painting described as a story, or create their own story as they explore a 3-D playscape that reimagines the original art. These experiences help children understand that art is not just something to view — it’s something to experience, interpret, and share.

Our galleries will celebrate the diversity of artists and art forms around the world and throughout history. From ancient pottery to modern digital design, we envision spaces where children discover how artists express ideas and emotions using many different tools and mediums. We plan to showcase the influences of art in architecture, fashion, and body art, which visitors can explore through interactive, touch-based stations. Our goal is to provide children with a greater understanding and appreciation of how art and color appear in everyday life and how they are influenced by the rich history of cultures around the globe.

The Children’s Museum of Sound & Color plans to invite children to engage in open-ended creation opportunities through sensory exploration and movement. In creation station areas, visitors will be encouraged to experiment freely with a wide range of materials, including drawing tools, paint, and clay. We plan to rotate guided projects based on spotlight artists and genres as optional programming for guests. Other exhibits will incorporate black light, glowing materials, and splatter painting, with an emphasis on self-expression and celebration of the creative process rather than finished results. We also plan to include opportunities for visitors to create and collaborate through motion based activities, such as large scale canvases where children spread paint by using ride-on vehicles.

In our water play area families will be encouraged to play with lights through water and mist. Here they can make their own rainbows, experiment with reflections and shadows, and create their own water based art projects.

At the Children’s Museum of Sound & Color, we will aim to provide art education experiences that foster imagination, curiosity, and confidence, helping children build a lifelong connection to art through playful discovery.
